About Eshchar

Eshchar needs your help!

My name is Eshchar. I served as combat officer in the IDF and from then on in an active and classified field combat position.

I live in a Kibutz, married to Hila and a father to Guy and Eyal.

Two years ago I have been diagnosed with a massive cancerous brain tumor.

In July 2007 I went through an operation for a partial removal of the tumor, and came out of it with the left side of my body paralyzed, and with a cognitive damage that is impacting my memory and state of mind.

My disease transformed me from an independent, athletic person, into a disabled man. I need assistance in performing daily tasks, and I find it hard to describe how hard this condition is for me. Although the doctors told me that I will never be able to walk, for my family, as well as for myself, I made enormous efforts, and am continuing to struggle so I can walk again.

Since I cannot prove that my disease was caused by my work, my treatments are not covered by the medical insurance provided by the Ministry of Defense, therefore I need to privately fund all the medical and rehabilitation treatments. Unfortunately, these expenses are beyond our reach. I get a lot fo support from my friends and family, both morally and financially, but the expenses keep growing.

A follow up MRI from 02-2009 revealed a recurrence of the disease in a more violent manner.

My doctor, Prof. Ram, manager of the Neuro-Surgical unit in the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center has recommended a cutting edge procedure of Vaccine Treatment. This procedure is performed in Belgium and lasts 4 months. This procedure and other complementary treatments have estimated cost of 200,000$. We need to raise this funding Urgently! Any help is highly appreciated!

A person in my condition learns to suppress his ego, and accept help from others. For a long time I have refused to accept donations. Today I realize that I have no choice, therefore I ask for your help. I am 36 years old. I want to live to see my children grow. With your help I might be able to do this.

I am optimistic, strong, and convinced that I will defeat this disease. I know that my family and friends will do anything for me, but I need your help too.
